Patients and visitors are warned building work may cause disruption at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Changes will be taking place in the main foyer as work begins on improvements the A&E department.

The QEH has been awarded £221,000 from the Department of Health to create a new clinical room, where patients will be assessed to see where they can receive the most appropriate care.

Chief executive Jon Green said: 'We would like to apologise to patients and visitors if the building work causes any disruption over the coming months but this is an important project for the hospital.

'This new facility will not only make a big impact on our staff but also patients and the community as a whole.'

Visitors should still use the sinks to wash their hands, when these are moved further into the reception area. Prescriptions and the cash machine will be moving into the small waiting area, to the right of the main doors.
