With health services coming under mounting pressure, the work of the local Community First Responders is going to become increasingly important - and more volunteers would be welcomed, especially in the Lingwood area, as well as Blofield, Brundall and Strumpshaw.
Full training is offered by the Ambulance Service and all equipment is provided – they now just need people!
This year to date, the average 10 local responders have made 119 visits to patients at the request of the ambulance service.Although not all attendances are for life-threatening conditions, patients and families have said how reassuring it is to have someone local arrive promptly.
First Responders take information that is of help to the Ambulance Service, collect the patient's medication record and can offer some practical treatment. Anyone wanting to find out more, contact the local co-ordinator on 01603 713 583.
