Green Party co-leader Caroline Lucas MP is coming to Norwich as part of her efforts to promote a lowering of the voting age to 16.
Last year Norwich City Council unanimously supported a Green Party motion which called on the government to make Norwich a pilot for reducing the voting age in time for the local city council elections due to be held in May 2018.
Green Party MP and co-leader Caroline Lucas will be coming to the Assembly House in Norwich for a fundraising event on Friday, November 3 after attending a parliamentary debate on the issue.
She said: 'Britain is going through enormous changes right now and it's about time we give young people more of a say over the direction we're taking.'
Clive Lewis, Norwich South MP, will be among those attending the debate which has cross party support, with figures from the Green Party, Labour, SNP and Liberal Democrats all speaking in favour of the move.
