Garry Wonnacott, of Norwich, a former Bungay High School pupil, has spent several days on the remote island of Virgin Gorda, helping recovery work following the devastation of Hurricane Irma.

Travelling as part of a team of four from Serve On, father-of-one 48-year-old Mr Wonnacott said he was met with scenes of 'utter destruction' when arriving on the island more than a week ago.He and the team have since set up water filtration equipment to provide thousands of litres of clean water to residents and recovery teams, as well as helping to repair communication networks.

So far, the Serve On Appeal, which he is a part of, has raised more than £7,000 to provide further aid.
