Staff were evacuated from a Norwich supermarket this morning.
Employees of the Tesco superstore at Harford Bridge off Ipswich Road had to leave the building before 6am this morning (Thursday, August 17).
The incident was reported to Norfolk Fire and Rescue, and appliances were sent there from Carrow and Earlham stations.
But a spokesman for the fire service said a smell of smoke had been investigated but it was found to be a false alarm.
Fire and Rescue had finished their investigation by 8.10am, however the supermarket was still closed at 10.30am.
Staff in hi-vis jackets were turning shoppers away from the store, however, the Tesco filling station near the entrance was open.
Other staff members were gathered outside the store's main entrance.
A manager at the store said they were still investigating what had happened that morning.
The store previously had to be closed on February 23, as a precaution due to high winds from Storm Doris.
UPDATE: A Tesco spokesman said the store had reopened and was trading as normal at 11.18am. The spokesman confirmed it was a false alarm and no-one was injured.
