It is described as an unforgettable experience as the summer night falls.
And now people are being offered the opportunity to experience the song, display and feeding of the nightjar.
The birds, which travel from Africa to breed in Thetford Forest, are most active at dusk and can demonstrate stunning aerial agility.
On Tuesday, June 27 and Tuesday, July 4, the Forestry Commission's ecologist Neal Armour-Chelu and nightjar expert Ron Hoblyn will lead evening events to provide opportunities to see and hear the birds.
People are asked to meet at the King's Forest picnic site car park on the B1106 Elveden to Bury St Edmunds road for an 8.30pm start.
It is advised people wear clothing and footwear suitable for the forest environment and for the drop in temperature as night falls.
Booking is not required but you can email information@fotf.org.uk if you would like to confirm attendance.
