Plans are being drawn up for another regeneration scheme for parts of King's Lynn.
West Norfolk councillors will tonight vote on whether to apply for £1.4m in lottery funding for Lynn's second townscape heritage programme.
The first, launched three years ago, helped revitalise the area around the Saturday Market Place and St James Street.
Pavements, parking and buildings were improved and the area made more pedestrian-friendly with the help of lottery funding.
Now the council wants to make similar improvements along the busy Railway Road, Norfolk Street and Blackfriars Road - otherwise known as the gyratory (one way) system.
If successful, a report to councillors says the borough would need to contribute £600,000 over five years from 2019.
The borough's cabinet has already agreed to back the move at a meeting held in closed session.
A report to the full council, which meets tonight, adds: 'Consultation with the HLF, property owners and stakeholders was ongoing and had received a positive response on the proposal to submit an application to the HLF to request £1,400,000 funding contribution to the £2m scheme.'
