Norwich Cathedral Flower Guild celebrates 70 years and is still growing

A group that has helped keep Norwich Cathedral alive with colour is celebrating its 70th anniversary but putting on a special display representing England over the past 70 years.

The Flower Guild of Norwich Cathedral has been changing the flowers in the halls of the Cathedral for the past 70 years.

To celebrate, nine special flower pieces have been created representing a different event in each decade from 1940 to 2017.

The group was started in the 1940s by Jean Paton and has since grown to more than 150 members who look after the flowers.

A special display celebrates the work of the Waterers, who three times a week go around the Cathedral and make sure all the flowers are watered.

The public can view the arrangements until Thursday, October 5 and are invited to attend Evensong a 5.30pm on Tuesday October 3 which will include a special mention of the guild.
