Nearly 30kg of plastic, fishing twine, and other rubbish from the sands and groynes, as well as a significant quantity of metal, was removed from a north Norfolk beach in a single day.
Eight employees from Victory Housing Trust volunteered to take part in the clean-up at Walcott beach with North Norfolk Beach Cleans, part of the Marine Conservation Society.
It is the second consecutive year a Victory team has undertaken a beach clean on this stretch of coastline.
The trust allows staff to take up to three days a year off to undertake community projects.
Jo Todd, community development officer at Victory, said: 'Our beaches are a vital part of the tourism industry.
'TV programmes like Blue Planet have raised awareness about the damage that plastics and other discarded items like fishing twine can do to wildlife and the environment. We were staggered at how much rubbish and detritus we collected.'
