From doctors and nurses to spacemen and Formula One drivers, school children from Norwich enjoyed dressing up as their future selves during a recent aspiration week.

Encouraged to think about the work place, pupils from the Hethersett cluster took part in a variety of activities.

They were treated to visits from people representing their professions including nurses, lawyers, firefighters, farmers, footballers, engineers and physiotherapists.

Mulbarton Infant School enjoyed a visit from an electric car which managed to fit into the school hall.

And the week culminated in a dressing-up day across the schools where the children dressed up as what they would like to be when they grow up.

Nicola Cushion, headteacher of Hethersett Woodside Infant and Nursery School, said professions included an astronaut, zoo-keeper, Lego design technician, police officer, charity worker, electrician, train driver, scientist, sea rescue worker, rock star, doctor, vet, archaeologist, palaeontologist and a cartographer.

She said: 'We think this is the right time for the children to look at the world beyond school, the skills that are needed in the work place and the relevance to their everyday life.'

The other five schools which make up the cluster are Hethersett Junior, Hethersett Academy, Mulbarton Junior, Little Melton Primary and Cringleford Primary.
