Pupils and staff at a Lowestoft school are celebrating after receiving a 'Good' rating from an Ofsted inspection.
After being rated as 'requires improvement' during an inspection in 2015, staff and youngsters at Westwood Primary School have expressed delight at the progression the school has made, which is demonstrated in the 'good' rating.
Inspectors, who carried out the report in February, stated Westwood Primary School 'nurtures pupils' personal and academic development well', while the school's Early Years provision was graded as 'outstanding', with the report praising staff for developing Early Years pupils' skills and knowledge 'exceptionally well'.
The school's sponsor, The Active Learning Trust, was commended for providing 'strong support to the school, leaders and governors' - with the report also praising senior leaders for creating a 'positive culture of learning' which has 'enabled the school to improve significantly over the last few years.'
Headteacher, Rae Aldous, said: 'Working in partnership with The Active Learning Trust, the school has been transformed over the past four years and children are consequently in receipt of high quality teaching and learning.'
She added: 'The children at Westwood deserve the very best and my team consistently, day in day out, ensure this is in place, from our outstanding early years provision and throughout our school.
'I am an extremely proud headteacher who will continue the journey to become the very best primary school in Lowestoft!'
However, inspectors found improvement is required to support middle-ability pupils to make rapid progress in English and mathematics, by ensuring they are given challenging work and are moved on quickly enough to cover work in more depth.
Formerly called Whitton Green Primary School, the school gained academy status in 2013 after joining the Active Learning Trust (ALT) - chief executive of ALT, Gary Peile, said: 'The report's recognition of the great leadership of Rae Aldous and her whole team is something to be very proud of.
'Westwood was one of the first schools to place its faith in our trust to work with them on their journey to Good, and we are all so proud of this great school.'
