A festival of words for young people in Norwich will come to the city this summer.

The Inspired Words festival will celebrate the power of books with a day of readings and workshops on Saturday, July 15.

Held at Jane Austen College, on Colegate - itself once the home of 19th century Norwich author Amelia Opie - the day will see seven authors showcase their work.

The line-up features Alexander Gordon Smith, Katy Birchall, Tamsyn Murray, Sara Grant, Catherine Barter, Suzan Collins and Hilton Pashley.

Robert Welton, college librarian and event organiser, said: 'We're really excited about this new festival and bringing together authors and young readers... We want to emphasise the creative side of reading and writing and how enjoyable and engaging it can be.'

The festival, complete with food and drink stalls, will run from 10am to 4pm, with tickets costing £5 from here.
