An infant and nursery school is closed on Wednesday after stormy weather caused flooding problems.

Fakenham Infant and Nursery School is closed after the main school building was flooded.

The school currently has no access to water, meaning the toilets and kitchen are out of use.

Sarah Gallichan, headteacher, said it was too early to say whether the school would reopen on Thursday.

'We had some flooding and our pump has broken, probably because of the storms or a water surge, and we have had water backing up into the school building.

'Until that's resolved, we can't use toilets, the kitchen or sinks to wash hands, so we couldn't have any children in.'

She said the team had been mopping the school on Wednesday morning and that little damage had been done.
