The annual Norfolk Maths Challenge was hosted in the sports hall at Langley Preparatory School at Taverham Hall, which has hosted the event for six years running.

The two-day bonanza, at the end of last week, was organised by Douglas Buchanan, its creator and presenter, in a bid to celebrate the subject.

It included puzzles, dominos, tangrams and problem-solving, with rounds of challenges for the teams of two to complete.

Year five youngsters at Cringleford Primary School were crowned the overall winners on the first day of the event, while a pair from Norwich Lower School came first out of 58 duos in the second day for year six students.

The school congratulated both winning teams, as well as the runners-up from both days.
