The giant event will be for youngsters from all four schools in the West Norfolk Academies' Trust – Marshland High, Springwood High, St Clements High and Smithdon High.

John Hirst, executive deputy headteacher at Springwood, said: 'It's about serving the community, and attracting employers here, to show what skill sets are needed for young people when they leave school or college.

'We are trying to get students to meet their highest aspirations in work. Employers attending will include Bespak, British Sugar, Center Parcs, and there will be a wide range of different businesses.

'It's being held with all four schools in the trust involved, because that way we can get bigger and better employers to attend.'

The event is being be held at Springwood High School, from 1pm to 7pm on Wednesday, October 19, and follows the school's sixth form open evening, which runs from 4.30pm on Thursday, October 13.

It will be hosted by the Skills Service whose business and education development manager for King's Lynn and West Norfolk, Jacqui Farrell, said: 'This will be the largest careers' show held in west Norfolk in recent years and we would love to showcase the diversity that we know exists in our area. There will be an employment training marketplace and we are also hoping to run workshops and seminars on the day with specific themes such as Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics , higher education, further education, apprenticeships, etc.'

The Skills Service is looking for organisations to attend with a display stand and/or run a short group workshop or seminar. if you can help, email jacqui.farrell@theskillsservice.co.uk
