A teacher training centre has celebrated bringing almost 40 new recruits into the field.

The Norfolk Teacher Training Centre (NTTC), part of City College Norwich, held a graduation event for its latest 37 newly-qualified teachers (NQTs) last week.

It means NTTC has trained 80 new teachers in three years, and an increase in recruits means it is likely to pass the 100 mark by the end of 2017/18.

Paul McCann, NTTC director, said: 'Our NQTs all have bright and rewarding careers ahead of them, and already they have rightly been recognised within their placement schools as making a significant contribution to the education of young people in the region.'

Ninety-six per cent of NTTC NQTs are employed in schools in the region after graduation.

Open days for NTTC will be held at City College Norwich from 5pm to 7pm on October 3 and 6pm to 9pm on November 2.
