The familiar chimes of an ice cream van is a sound that has brought children running for decades.
It is not, however, a sound one would necessarily associate with the middle of November.
For second generation ice cream man Craig Trickett though, they will become the soundtrack to a fundraising campaign for Children in Need.
Mr Trickett, of Earsham, is using his business Jim's South Norfolk Ices to raise money for the BBC appeal, collecting donations as he does his rounds.
The 53-year-old, whose father Jim was also an ice cream man, will also be spreading smiles and treats around Waveney and South Norfolk, with a gesture to melt the hearts.
On Thursday before Children In Need Day, he will visit six children's homes and special needs schools, in a nine hour day.
He said: 'My wife and I have taken foster children in for years, so youngsters have always been a big passion of mine.
'It can't be nice to have to live in a children's home, so I'm hoping by visiting in the ice cream van I will be able to make all of their days.'
As he visits a variety of places on his daily round - including Harleston, Denton and Bungay - Mr Trickett is hoping customers will be generous to cause and throw some money into his collection bucket when they buy their treats.
He said: 'It will be quite a long day - we will be out from around 10.30am and then by the time we have visited the homes we probably won't be done until seven that night.
'The idea came from a Facebook group I am a member of where ice cream men across the country can communicate with each other. I think there is around five of us doing it UK-wide.
'It's always good to give something back. I'd also like to say a massive thank you to Anglian Sweets and Drinks in Lowestoft for donating some stock for us free of charge.'
Mr Trickett is also hoping to be allowed to visit mainstream schools, where he said he would gladly give out treats in exchange for donations to the appeal.
