A dog that has probably been used as a breeding machine to make money for her puppies is now in safe hands after she was thrown over the fence of a garden in a remote village.

Wanda the cocker spaniel today begins her new journey with a dose of medication so strong it had to be ordered in especially to treat her highly contagious condition of sarcoptic mange.

She was thrown over a fence in the middle of the night in Tydd St Giles by somebody who did not want to be spotted so cruelly getting rid of her.

An appeal has gone out for blankets, towels, baby socks and baby vests as she is scratching and hurting herself making her skin sore.

Shelley Ridgeon of Ravenswood Pet Rescue, said: “Everything that she has needs to be thrown away after contact so the vets will be short of these items.

“We also need disposable aprons as this is highly contagious to humans and to other dogs so when she goes off to foster she will have to be barrier nursed.

“She spent her first night at Best Friends vets in March - they called and said Wanda has had a good night and her temperature is lower this morning which is great.

“Her medication has arrived and she has started her treatment.”

Vet Adrian Dodoiu said: “We started therapy today, she will stay with us another day to monitor how she is after her injection.

“She will be shaved so we can apply a cream to make her more comfy.”

Shelley added: “It’s the worst case I have ever collected - thrown over a ladies fence late last night.

“This girl has sarcoptic mange, ulcers in her eyes, entropia in both eyes, hematoma’s in both ears.

“Bloods have been taken to see if anything else is going on.

“Vets reckon shes only about two to three years old and as you can see has recently had puppies.

“I cried all the way to the vets. We need to raise as much as possible to try and get this girl better.

“A big thank you to Tesco who have already donated baby socks.”
