Thirty people fund-raised for Cromer RNLI by taking part in a fitness event on the beach and pier organised by Unity, a new gym based in Northrepps.

After a warm-up, the volunteers took part in a 5km run along the promenade and beach, followed by a bodyweight fitness session of press-ups and squat sits-ups. It ended with a 1km uphill run.

Matthew Green, who runs Unity, said: 'The event was mainly to raise funds for Cromer RNLI, but also meant the volunteers not only had a good time but were able to set personal best targets. Some people came from as far away as Beccles to support the event.'

Other volunteers gave out water, marshalled the course and helped for more than three hours.

Cromer RNLI operations manager Richard Leeds said: 'Matthew hopes to repeat this challenge on a yearly basis, encouraging more people at the gym to take part.'
