Officers in King's Lynn have been using powers which enable them to confiscate alcohol from anyone drinking anti-socially.

That usually means the booze ends up poured down the drain.

Patrols have been stepped up at hotspots like the bus station and The Walks.

This week they have also dealt with drinkers near the war memorial in Tower Gardens, who were given 'words of advice' and moved on.

Elsewhere drink was taken from four drinkers behind the town's library. One officer involved tweeted: 'Bye bye beer.'

A public consultation is under way into extending the protection order which currently gives police the power to seize to a wider area of the town.
