A cross has been stolen from a rural church.
The theft at St Margaret’s Church at Upton, near Acle, happened between Remembrance Sunday and Thursday morning.
The brass cross had been under the altar and was it was found to be missing by a church warden.
The rector of the Broadside Benefice Rev Nick Garrard said: “It was a beautiful cross actually. It had a clear crystal that light could pass through.
“It was quite an inspiring cross. I feel very sad. The cross has been part of our worship here for more than 100 years.”
The church was built between 1380 and 1450 on the site of a former Norman church.
As well as investigating the theft of the cross, Norfolk police say have received a report of a theft of a lamp and a candelabra at nearby All Saints Church at Hemblington on Wednesday.
Anyone with information on the thefts is asked to call Norfolk police on 101.
