Three people have been arrested in connection with an on-going fraud investigation - including a serving Norfolk policewoman.

A man and woman in their 30s and a second woman in her 50s were arrested in Norwich on Thursday morning by detectives from the Eastern Region Specialist Operations Unit.

That unit was established in 2010 specifically to tackle organised crime across the six police forces in the Eastern region and to provide specialist covert policing.

The three were arrested as part of that unit's Operation Fetch, for offences including fraud and money laundering.

A statement from Norfolk police said the officer, a Norfolk police constable, has been suspended from duty and the matter has been referred - as is routine - to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

It is understood that it is a policewoman who has been arrested.

The investigation remains on-going and all three have since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
