Think before you get behind the wheel - that was the message from police to Norfolk's army cadets at a young driver safety session on Tuesday.
Cadets from Swaffham and Wymondham were given a presentation on how to cope with peer pressure, the primary causes of accidents for young drivers and tips for being a better driver.
PC Andy Natrass, from Norfolk and Suffolk Roads Policing and Firearms Operations Unit, attended the evening to drive home the important message.
The 16 cadets, aged between 13 and 18-years-old, also heard from PCs Godin and Howlett, from Swaffham Roads Policing and Firearms Operations Unit, as they gave a talk on the different equipment used by officers and the differences between the military and policing response.
Detective Sergeant Josh Peak, detachment commander for the Swaffham Cadets, said: 'This event will help the group to achieve elements of their cadet in the Community Training Syllabus. Road safety is an important lesson to learn, particularly when many of our cadets will be getting their provisional licences in the next few years.
'The group really enjoyed the presentation and hearing about the different work of the constabulary's armed response unit. It's clear they got a lot from the session.'
Second Lieutenant Perkins from the Wymondham detachment added: 'It's nice for the Cadets to get something different for their emergency services input. Both presentations were pitched it just right for the audience.'
Swaffham Army Cadets meet weekly on a Tuesday evening at 7.30pm.
