A teenager has been arrested after allegedly walking around Norwich city centre with a firearm.
Five police armed units and six officers swooped in on Cathedral Street just after 1pm today where the arrest of a man in his late teens took place.
It is not being treated as a terrorism related incident, according to Norfolk Police.
A firearms officer, who would not be named, said: 'A man was seen in the area of Norwich city centre allegedly in possession of a firearm.
'A man was arrested on suspicion of firearms offences. The general public is safe.'
He was taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
A Norfolk police spokesman said a BB gun was also seized at the scene.
Police were called to Rampant Horse Street following reports a man had been seen in possession of a firearm.
No-one was injured and officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
An eyewitness said: 'We heard someone running down the road shouting, 'Get down, get down'. The police came really quick.'
