The sign for Witchcraft Way on the industrial estate north of Norwich has gone missing again and workers on the estate believe the culprit must not realise the origin of the street's name.

Rather than any mystical connections to witchcraft Its name, as with many others on the industrial estate, relates to the time when the estate was a United States Army Air Force base during World War Two.

The 467th Bombardment Group from Wendover, Utah, flew strategic bombing missions from the airfield using B24 Liberator aircraft.

Tthe most famous of these planes was known as Witchcraft or Witch and flew 130 successful missions under the care of ground crew chief, Joe Ramirez.

As along with other road names and a marker stone on the estate, the road sign for Witchcraft Way acts as a memorial to the airmen and ground crew of the 467th group.

Nick Hovey, property director of Tilia Properties, which own and manage many of the properties on the estate, said: 'I couldn't believe it when I saw the sign was missing again. It's the third time – we've replaced it twice already!'

Tilia Properties decided it was not necessary to involve the police but would like to recover the sign if possible. Anyone with information about the disappearance can contact Tilia on 01603 722892.
