A woman allegedly spat blood in the face of a police officer while she was being arrested on suspicion of assault.

It happened yesterday morning (Wednesday) in Norwich, when police were called to Pottergate following reporters a woman had been assaulted.

Officers attended and enquiries led them to Bishop Bridge Road where the suspect was arrested.

During the incident a PCSO suffered scratches to his hand and a police officer had blood spat at his face.

The suspect was further arrested for the offences and taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning and later charged.

Georgie Alderson, 22, from Norwich but of no fixed abode, has been charged with three counts of assault, including assaulting a police officer and a PCSO.

She was remanded in police custody to appear before Norwich Magistrates Court this morning (Thursday).
