People living in Rackheath and Salhouse are being urged to turn out and vote today on neighbourhood plans which will help shape their future.

The documents are the result of an extensive period of research and consultation with the communities.

Salhouse Parish Council started the process in 2014, while Rackheath Parish Council appointed a consultant to help create their plan in 2015 and have been working on it ever since.

The plans will be put to the test when the two communities decide a simple 'yes' or 'no'.

'I would urge people to go and vote because, if accepted, a neighbourhood plan has to be taken into account when planning applications are considered by the district council,' said Shaun Vincent, Broadland District Council's portfolio holder for planning.

Copies of the proposed plans and supporting documents can be found at www.broadland.gov.uk/neighbourhoodplans Polling stations from 7am to 10pm .
