One woman living nearby, who did not want to be named, said: 'It's scary...I feel uneasy to be honest. We do not normally have things like this happening here. But with the police here it makes me feel a bit better.'

Her partner said that on Friday there had been loud music coming from the property that is now at the centre of the police investigations.

'The next day (Saturday) at about 2.30pm there were police cars coming down here. Two police cars came down and then another two came with flashing lights,' he said, adding that officers had to break the door down to get into the property.

'Then the forensics and CID started turning up and we knew there was something serious going on.'

The couple, who said they were not sure who lived at the property, said the police were there throughout last night.

Another couple, who also wanted to remain anonymous, also reported hearing 'lots of really loud music' from the property late last week. They said they thought the property had previously been used as hostel accommodation but had been empty for some time until quite recently.

Another man who lived at Godric Place also said he was shocked to hear that a body had been found in the street in which he lived.
