A man with Hepatitis C who lunged at a police officer with a syringe has been sentenced to jail.
On July 8, Valdas Patronas, 49, of Gaywood Hill Drive, King's Lynn, had been seen by PC Gareth Cranstoun injecting heroin into his ankle.
When approached by the officer Patronas lunged at him with the syringe, King's Lynn magistrates' court heard.
Prosecutor Giles Beaumont read out a statement made by the police officer which read: 'I am absolutely disgusted that someone knowing they had Hepatitis C can even consider using a needle as a weapon.'
At an earlier trial, Patronas was found guilty of threatening behaviour against the police officer.Appearing in Lynn magistrates' court for sentencing on November 17, chairman of the bench Pat Isbill sentenced Patronas to 26 weeks in jail.
He was also ordered to pay £115 compensation to the police officer.
