A man is in hospital with serious head injuries following a Saturday night fight on Prince of Wales Road.
Police were called to the street at around 11.50pm following to reports of an assault.
When officers arrived they found a man unconscious on the pavement.
The 31-year-old was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital with serious head injuries and was then transferred to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge where he is now recovering.
A 19-year-old man from the North Walsham area was arrested at the scene on suspicion of affray and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He was questioned by detectives at Aylsham Police Investigation Centre and remains on conditional bail while the investigation continues.
Officers want to speak to a man who helped the victim.
He is described as white, of stocky build with dark hair in a quiff and was wearing dark trousers, a grey shirt, a black skinny tie and an earring.
