A man was taken to a corridor in a block of flats and allegedly robbed of his mobile phone and bank card after having a replica Glock handgun pointed at him, a court has heard.

The victim went to a block of flats in Surrey Street, Lowestoft, with Ben McRoberts to get drugs but when they got there McRoberts allegedly took him to an area where there were no CCTV cameras, Ipswich Crown Court heard on Monday.

McRoberts allegedly took a gun out of a sports bag and pointed it at the victim while ordering him to empty his pockets, said Jane Oldfield, prosecuting.

The frightened victim allegedly handed over £21 cash, a lighter, his mobile phone, a bank card and when asked he also gave McRoberts the PIN for the card, the court heard.

Mc Roberts then allegedly instructed his victim to follow him for a couple of minutes before letting him go on his way.

The alleged robbery was then subsequently reported to the police by the victim.

Three days later on March 10, police located McRoberts sitting on a wall close to his father's home in Raglan Street.

Officers arrested him and close to where he was sitting they allegedly found a kitchen knife and a replica Glock pistol, said Miss Oldfield.

She said that when the gun was examined, it was found the gun couldn't be fired.

When McRoberts was searched after being taken to a police station he was found in possession of a mobile phone which the victim identified as the one taken from him during the alleged robbery.

McRoberts, 29, of no fixed address, pleaded not guilty to robbing the victim of a mobile phone, cash, a lighter and a bank card on March 7,

2017, and possessing an imitation firearm.

He also denied having a knife in Raglan Street, Lowestoft, on March 10.

When McRoberts was interviewed by police he was asked about the alleged robbery as well as the knife and the gun found near him when he was arrested and he answered 'no comment' to all questions put to him, said Miss Oldfield.

Giving evidence, the victim said he had been intending to 'score' two £10 rocks of crack cocaine on the night of the alleged robbery.

The trial, which is expected to finish this week, continues.
