A 33-year-old man from Shropshire spent a night in a police cell after being caught driving with three times the legal drink-drive limit in his system.

The man was arrested at 9.57pm yesterday (Saturday, May 27) after being stopped on the A10 at Watlington, south of King's Lynn.

In a roadside test, he was found to have 103 microgrammes (ugs) per 100 millilitres of breath, well above the limit of 35ugs per 100mm of breath.

Another test in custody found him with 109ugs per 100mm of breath.

Chief Inspector Ed Brown said the man was still in custody as of 9am today.

He said: 'He will be charged when sober and will have to appear at court in due course.'

Insp Brown said this sort of behaviour endangered lives.

He said: 'Drink driving is wholly irresponsible and puts lives at risk. Officers will continue to pro-actively target offenders to increase road safety.'
