A man has admitted a knife-point robbery at a Norwich store.

Kevin Laskey, 56, was accused of robbing the Earlham Shopper, Earlham West Centre, of £200.

Laskey, of Beecheno Road, Norwich, appeared at Norwich Crown Court today where he pleaded guilty to robbery on January 20 this year.

It followed an incident where police were called to the store shortly after 1.20pm after he entered the store, threatened a 19-year-old member of staff with a knife and got away with cash.

Judge Nicholas Coleman adjourned sentence until May 27 so a psychiatric report can be carried out.

Laskey, who spoke only to enter his plea and was wearing a grey jumper with blue stripes, dark trousers and has grey hair, will return to a secure unit in Essex, where he is being held, until he is sentenced.

The robbery was the second at the store in just a few days after cigarettes and alcohol were stolen following an incident at the West Earlham store on January 9.

Earlier this month Darryl Hindley, 20, of Beecheno Road, was sentenced to three years after he admitted the robbery.
