A rapist is still at large three months after a woman was attacked in Thorpe St Andrew.

A 30-year-old woman was attacked on Yarmouth Road in an area between the Rushcutters pub and Thunder lane junction as she walked home from the city.

The attack, which happened sometime between 9.45pm and 10pm on July 1, prompted a major police appeal but despite extensive enquiries, no arrests have yet been made.

Detective Inspector Neil Stewart, from the Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team, said: 'Despite extensive enquiries, no significant leads have been generated.

'While it's very disappointing, we're determined to continue our investigation until all possible lines of enquiry have been exhausted.'

Police have previously released CCTV footage of potential witnesses who could hold 'significant information' about the rape and have renewed appeals for them to come forward.

The first image and footage shows a man wearing a baseball cap walking two dogs on a lead and holding what appears to be a Sainsbury's carrier bag. He is walking in the direction of the city centre.

Two other images show what looks like a couple, walking and holding hands. They are pictured walking near to the fish and chip shop.

Det Insp Stewart said: 'CCTV images showing witnesses were released and as a result of public appeals we have identified two people and we're still keen to identify the rest.

'I would urge anyone who recognises themselves or anyone they know to make contact with us. I stress these are witnesses who are seen walking in the area around the time of the attack.'

Following the attack the suspect was described as being white, aged between 30 and 50 years, of muscular build with short brown/ginger hair.

He was described as speaking with a deep Eastern European accent and was wearing dark clothing.

Anyone who recognises the people shown in the images is asked to contact the Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team on 101.
