A grandmother told today how she fears she might never see her granddaughter's killer or killers brought to justice.

The remains of Latvian teenager Alisa Dmitrijeva were found by a dog walker at Anmer, on the Royal Estate, on New Year's Day 2012.

College of West Anglia student Alisa, 17, had gone missing from her home in Wisbech in August 2011.

Two men, aged 28 and 31, were arrested over her death in May. But to date no-one has been charged.

In a statement issued through policce today, Alisa's grandmother, Lidija Dmitrijeva, said: 'Last year we had hope that we would see Alisa alive, this year we have nothing. The pain a year on is still raw.

'We cannot live without the answers to so many of our questions, questions that not even the police can answer so please can the person who knows what happened to Alisa come forward. I'm worried I won't be alive to see these people punished.

'Please help the police if you have anything to say - we believe someone is too scared to talk, but please speak up, we wait for your news.'

Today Det Insp Marie James, of the Norfolk and Suffolk major investigation team, said: 'This will be a difficult time of year for Alisa's family, and I would urge anyone with information about her disappearance and death to come forward, so we can give them some answers.

'Two men who were arrested in connection with Alisa's death were released from their bail conditions without charge in September 2012.

'This does not mean that the case is closed any new information we receive will be looked into and we are continuing to prepare a file for the coroner for inquest.'

Det Insp James said people should think back to the summer of 2011.

'Whilst Alisa's body was found at Anmer a year ago, the key time we need information on is when she was last seen at the end of August last year, and so we remain keen to hear from anyone who has any information on her movements in the King's Lynn and Wisbech areas between Tuesday, August 30 and Tuesday, September 6, 2011.'

Alisa was last seen in Friar's Street, King's Lynn, in the early hours of August 31. Detectives believe she had attended a beach party at Snettisham on the night of August 30.

Officers searched the nearby beach for clues, including Alisa's mobile phone, which has not yet been recovered.

Alisa was reported missing by her family on September 6. She had been due to enrol with the College of West Anglia the following day.

Originally from Riga, in Latvia, Alisa arrived in England two years ago when her father and sister came to live with her grandmother.

She shared a rented semi-detached house in Wisbech with her grandmother, her father Olegs and Viktorija, her younger sister. Her mother also lived nearby.
