Grafitti vandals have targeted a second tourist railway in Norfolk.

A 'tag' has been sprayed on a disabled coach at the Bure Valley Railway at Aylsham - putting the carriage out of service ahead of the busy half term week.

It comes just weeks after a similar incident at the North Norfolk Railway in Sheringham when a restaurant carriage was damaged.

Bure Valley business manager and director Susan Munday said: 'It might have seemed like fun but it is causing a lot of inconvenience.

'We are seeing if it can be removed, but if we have to completely repaint the carriage it will cost £2,000.

'The vandals might have thought it looked creative and artistic but it does have implications when we are trying to run the railway on a not-for-profit basis,' she added.

It was not clear if it was linked to the North Norfolk Railway vandalism.

The Bure Valley has other disabled coaches, so normal services would not be affected but its loss could impact if there were bookings for disabled groups.

It would also be looking at security following the incident, which happened between 8.30am on Wednesday and 8.30am the following day, when the offender, or offenders, climbed into the yard over a 4ft fence.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything out of the ordinary in the area during those times.

Anyone with information should contact PCSO Brian Levy at Aylsham Police Station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
