Two would-be fuel thieves have been scuppered in their attempts to steal diesel from a farm after being caught in the act.
The two men were disturbed as they tried to take fuel from a pump on a farm in Lakenheath at around 10pm last Friday (May 2).
The victim had gone to start an irrigation system when he came across a man running away from the pump to a silver Peugeot 406.
The trespasser then sped off towards Lakenheath village with an accomplice in the front seat. The first part of the registration is believed to have been KN02.
On inspecting the pump, the victim found that the padlock on the lid had been cut off, the filter cap removed and a hole made in the filter to gain access to the diesel. Nothing is believed to have been stolen.
