Eight people were arrested during and after the East Anglian Derby between Norwich and Ipswich at Portman Road.

The first derby of the current Championship season saw visitors Norwich clinch a 1-0 win courtesy of a sublime 59th-minute strike by James Maddison.

A Suffolk Police spokesman said they made a total of eight arrests during the game, which kicked off at noon on Sunday (October 22), and at the railway station afterwards.

The spokesman said: 'A small amount of low level disorder was encountered on exiting the stadium at the end of the match, and police dealt with further disorder that broke out amongst a group of supporters outside the railway station.

'Due to a number of objects being thrown, specialist officers wearing protective equipment were deployed to the incident outside the station, and officers with police horses and police dogs were also at the scene.'

Six of the people arrested were taken into custody and will be questioned for disorder related offences.

The Canaries' win, cheered on by 2,000 away fans, stretched their unbeaten run against bitter East Anglian rivals to nine games.
