Police in South Norfolk are scanning the roads using the latest technology.
Officers have been using ANPR cameras to carry out vehicle checks in Diss, Harleston and Long Stratton.
One tweeted: 'Out and about over the last few days using our ANPR systems to identify motoring offences and target prolific offenders.'
A colleague sadded: 'We are out in vehicles across #Diss #LongStratton and #Harleston, using #ANPR and the old fashioned 'policeman's nose' to seek out and deny criminals the use of our roads.'
Number plates clocked by the cameras are instantly checked to see if the vehicle is taxed and insured or whether it is of interest to police.
News of the South Norfolk operation comes days after it emerged Norwich has been codenamed 'Moonshot City' as police deploy extra ANPR cameras to target criminals. Cameras achieved 'significant results' when trialled in West Norfolk earlier this year.
