Town councillors have decided not to go ahead with plans for a £100,000 skate park in Sprowston.
The facility, which would have been funded by developer Norfolk Homes, was proposed for an area of land off Blue Boar Lane.
But following outcry from people living on the nearby Manor Reach estate, Sprowston Town Council will no longer proceed with the plans.
Residents claimed the skate park would attract anti-social behaviour to the area.
On Wednesday, councillors instead agreed to try and find a new location for the park.
But in doing so, the town council will only have access to half of the original funding.
The remaining £50,000 will go towards landscaping the Blue Boar Lane site, as requested by residents.
June Hunt, town clerk, said: 'There are other developments taking place in Sprowston and we are still hopeful we will deliver the skate park.'
