Actress Charlotte Rampling has received an Oscar nomination for her performance in 45 Years, a movie filmed on location in Norwich and Norfolk.
The 69-year-old was nominated in the category of Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in the film, the first Oscar nomination of her long career.
Also nominated in the category were Cate Blanchett for her role in Carol, Brie Larson – Room, Saoirse Ronan – Brooklyn and Jennifer Lawrence – Joy.
Despite widespread hopes the film itself did not receive any nominations.
45 Years tells the story of a couple whose marriage is at threat after a letter arrives about an old flame who died years earlier.
The director of 45 Years, Andrew Haigh, said the flat landscape of Norfolk was a reflection of Geoff's (Tom Courtenay) disappointment in his life, in contrast to the adventure of his mid-20s spent in the mountainous Alps with his German girlfriend.
It was filmed around Norwich and the Norfolk Broads in 2014.
It includes scenes at the House Cafe in St Benedicts Street in Norwich, the King of Hearts cafe on Magdalen Street, Assembly Rooms, The Paddle Steamer at Horning, Gentlemans Walk, W. R. Bullen - the jewellery shop on the corner of London Street - and the Travel Centre on Bedford Street.
