Nestled on Upper St Giles Street, Cupcake & Co, opens today, but has already been attracting passersby with its creme egg brownies and cupcakes in the window.

Whether you fancy some elderflower gelato, creme brulée tea or peanut butter blondies - it has the remedy for every sweet tooth.

Self-taught baker Anne Falgate, from the Ringland area, swapped her job at a school for creating cupcakes and has never looked back.

In a whirlwind she collected the keys to her cafe a week ago and now her vintage-decorated cafe offering locally sourced products including hand decorated cake plates and coffee, has opened its doors. Soon it will also stock handmade cards by Pills and Pencils.

Mrs Falgate, said: 'The idea is that if it is someone's birthday, people can pop in and get a cake, a lovely cake plate and a card - easy as that.

'My customers are lovely and very supportive, I have not put a note on my market stall to say I'm moving yet and they have already been up here.'

Baking everything at home and adding the finishing touches in store, sweet treats can be taken away in bags made from recycled paper.

A loyalty scheme is also in place, where if shoppers sign up, they will receive exclusive offers via email, text, twitter or Facebook.

She added: 'We will mix it up how people find out about the deal, I want to reward my customers for coming here.'
