Five hundred years ago Martin Luther wrote his 95 theses in Wittenberg, Germany.
And to commemorate the Reformation movement worshippers from seven churches in Aylsham will attend a service at the parish church in Cawston Road on Sunday, October 22, at 4pm.
The service will be built around music, readings and liturgy from the era and there will be readings from the church's 450-year-old Geneva Bible, more often known as 'The Breeches Bible' because it describes Adam and Eve making themselves 'breeches'. This treasure is an early English translation of the Bible dating from Queen Mary's reign.
Revd Jack Branford, curate of the Aylsham team of churches, said: 'There was a great deal of good to come from the Reformation but it also left many scars in society and in our churches. By worshipping together, the Aylsham churches are seeking to honour both the positives and the pain of the past.'
