Around 26 years ago Bowthorpe High School was closed down, we look at some of its photos collected through the decades.

The comprehensive secondary school was located on Bowthorpe Road before it was closed in 1991 and then demolished.

Earlham fire station has since been built on the site which was completed in 2005 and became operational the following year.

Students in the area were transferred to the Earlham High School, which has since become City Academy Norwich.

When it was open though, there were around 1,000 pupils, which was a hive of activity with students playing a leading role in city life.

Students were even featured in Chatterbox, an Anglia TV quiz show for schools across the Eastern Counties, hosted by Chris Kelly in the late 70s.
