Two schools have celebrated a successful week which has seen pupils challenged by local businesses to create new products to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs.

Aslacton Primary School and Manor Field Infant School, in Long Stratton, had 20 businesses - including The Butchers House, Long Stratton, and The Crown in Pulham Market - set the pupils challenges including adapting existing products.

The pupils spent a week working on the challenges and some of the businesses made and sold the items created by the youngsters.

Louise Mundford, teacher and organiser of the week, said: 'The children had some amazing ideas for their design work. The challenges provided a real purpose for learning and encouraged our pupils to take some creative risks.

'It was such a fun week that was embraced by all.

'Many children commented throughout the week that they had gone home to do some more inventing and designing; which was lovely to hear.

'We hope that this week has inspired some of the business leaders, designers and inventors of the future.'

The winning designs were celebrated in a celebration assembly and children were giving a range of prizes including £250 worth of prizes donated by Orchard Toys.
