A woman who overcame a rare neurological illness has given back to the hospital ward that helped her.

Stacey Parry, 37, from Swaffham raised £1,500 for the West Raynham Ward at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kings Lynn.

The donation comes after Ms Parry benefited from the ward’s support during her battle with a neurological illness.

Stricken with encephalitis twice, a rare condition in which antibodies attack the brain, Ms Parry faced significant challenges, including a stint in intensive care at Addenbrooke's in Cambridge, and relearning basic functions such as eating and walking.

Following her discharge from the hospital on May 25, she committed to raising money for the ward.

Originally aiming to cycle 100km on a static bike and raise £500 during October, she exceeded both goals, cycling 250km and tripling her fundraising target.

Ms Parry recently presented the money to hospital staff and continues on her road to recovery.

Her dedicated and successful fundraising efforts will greatly support the ward in helping other patients going through recovery.
