Two men are set to stand trial accused of aggravated burglary after a householder was attacked with a hammer. 

Charles McIntosh, 21, and Charlie Lawes, also 21, have been charged with aggravated burglary and causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent following a burglary in Norwich.

The defendants are accused of breaking into an address at Richmond Court, off Yarmouth Road, Norwich with a hammer and assaulting the victim.

McIntosh, of Geoffrey Watling Way, Norwich, and Lawes, of Palmer Close, Norwich appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Friday when they both pleaded not guilty to both offences.

Recorder Paul Garlick fixed a trial, expected to last three to four days, from May 27 next year.

Both defendants were granted conditional bail.
