A town's first Domino's pizza branch has been confirmed to be opening this spring. 

The national chain has started to hire staff for its upcoming takeaway in Diss which is said to be opening in the next few months. 

Saskia Moss, a Domino's spokeswoman, said: "We're delighted to be opening a new store in Diss in the spring, bringing our fresh homemade pizzas to even more loyal customers.

"We will be sure to let people know as soon as we have further details of the opening."

Its exact location within the town has yet to be confirmed but plans for a new hot food business in Mere Street were submitted to South Norfolk Council in September.

The premises were formerly a Pride Animal Rescue shop but it closed after the owner was jailed for stealing tens of thousands of pounds from veterinary practices. 

Developers assured the council that the changes to the Grade II listed 19th-century building would be superficial. 

Plans state that the outside of the shop will be repaired and repainted with new signage installed.
