Convicted sex offender banned from all holiday parks

Trevor Cator, 67, was seen by one of the girls - neither of who can be named for legal reasons - on all fours trying to peer under shower cubicles at Cromer Caravan Park.

He said one of the girls, who was 11 at the time, "came running back" to her father "looking distressed".

Mr Youell said the dad "knew something was wrong" and was told by his daughter: "Dad, you need to come there's a man looking at me under the showers".

He said Cator, who had a mirror on him and was wearing white gloves, "attempted to view the girls while they were showering".

Police were called and he was arrested.

Cator, of Barkers Herne in Cromer, who has a previous conviction for voyeurism, appeared at court for sentence after he admitted attempted voyeurism on August 6 last year.

The offence happened at Cromer (Image: Newsquest)Before he was sentenced the court heard a statement from the girls' mum who said the event had resulted in "constant worry", flashbacks and anxiety for her children and the family.

Jailing Cator for 18 months Judge Andrew Shaw said it was a "very concerning case" where the defendant entered a female toilet block, with white gloves and a mirror, intent on spying on "two young children who were having a shower while they were on holiday".

As part of a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) imposed on Cator he was banned from any campsite, caravan park or holiday park in the country unless he obtained prior approval from the police.

He was also banned from going within 50 metres of any public child play area in the country as well as within 50 metres of any school or nursery.

Despite being jailed Cator initially refused to be led away to the cells, shouting out "No, no, no" as he stood to the side of the dock with his arms folded.

He said: "I don't agree with it" before later adding he "might as well be dead" as he had "lost everything now".

Judge Shaw summoned more prison officers to enter the dock and Cator was led away after a few minutes.

Andrew Oliver, mitigating, said it was "an attempted rather than a completed offence".

He said there was not a significant degree of planning for the offence by Cator who lives an "isolated" life and has been left "stressed" following the publication of details of the offence.

Cator was also put on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
