A Strictly Come Dancing star who played a starring role in last year's Lowestoft pantomime has died aged 44. 

Robin Windsor competed in four series of the hit BBC show and danced with Patsy Kensit, Anita Dobson, Lisa Riley and Deborah Meaden.

He also danced with Great British Bake Off host Alison Hammond in the 2015 Christmas special and with Susanna Reid in 2011’s Children In Need special.

The Ipswich-born dancer joined the cast of Marina Theatre's pantomime Aladdin in 2023 and played the pivotal role of the Genie of the Lamp.

He played an incredible Genie in our panto production Aladdin.

"He was a beautiful, kind and gentle soul who made an effort to get to know all of our team and even organised a quiz night for everyone.

"A very talented gem indeed and our hearts are broken today. We send love to all of Robin’s friends and family."

Windsor was a founding member of the hit ballroom show Burn The Floor and in a tribute, the company said: "His talent, attitude, energy and personality helped create the Burn the Floor stage reputation.

"He leaves a void in our hearts that will never be filled, yet our wonderful memories will stay forever."

Windsor delighted audiences at the Alive Corn Exchange in King's Lynn last January on the Come What May UK tour.

The fan favourite also performed at Norwich Theatre Royal many times. 

In a tribute, Sisco Entertainment said: "It is with heavy hearts that we announce the tragic passing of our beloved friend, Robin Windsor. 

"Robin's presence in 'Come What May' was more than just a performance; it was an embodiment of passion, grace, and sheer talent.

"Robin you will be deeply missed. Though 'Come What May' will continue without you, your legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to share in your light."

He went on to represent England in numerous championships, both on the domestic and international levels.

He joined the cast of show Burn The Floor in 2001 and toured the world for 10 years, with a nine-month run on Broadway.

Windsor also appeared in Dancing With The Stars Australia and So You Think You Can Dance in the Netherlands and assisted in the choreography for the Australian version of So You Think You Can Dance, as well as acting as a motivational speaker.
